The Sub Zero Mission goes where others won’t -into the forgotten places where the unsheltered survive. They deliver warming items & some hope. Run by veterans & powered by volunteers they are a mission - boots on the ground, hearts in the fight, and a promise that no one gets left behind. 

During the winter of 2009, a couple of old friends -both Marines- helped a few homeless veterans by supplying sleeping bags to keep them warm through the northeast Ohio cold. Al Raddatz and Del Bethel soon realized they could do more. They spread the word through social media, within weeks had collected fifty  sleeping bags & delivered them directly to people living outside. At Leroy VFW Post 7939, the Sub Zero Mission was born along with its motto: “Nobody Should Freeze to Death in America.”

Items for collection are the Stay Alive Five — winter hats, coats, gloves, boots, and sleeping bags. 

 The items for Sub Zero should be adult sizes. Sub Zero Missions does not work with too many children. Any items donated that are children's sizes will be given to Hope Chest in Painesville.
